Hairy Beast is a theatrical performance that plays on the tropes of classic horror to explore the hilarity and horror of gender norms and heteronormativity. A show that is very loud, funny, ridiculous and heart felt - Hairy Beast is a joyful expression of transness, that pokes fun at the strict rules of gender and the ridiculousness of horror.

In the show, a man (Richard) is visited by a human sized vagina, who tells him of the wonderous world available to him if he just accepts his body and himself in the process. All the while being watched by a mob of small minded townfolk - who decend on Richard and turn him into....the Hairy Beast. Although Theo created Hairy Beast in response to his own transition, the show plays on universal experiences of gender and the constraints of heteronormativity.

Hairy Beast is currently being previewed at selected events throughout 2023 and early 2024. Theo completed his residency with The Tron: Labweek to develop Hairy Beast in 2022, he also secured funding throughout the end of 2022 from the Create:Inclusion Fund, and received one of the National Theatre of Scotland's Discover Artist residencies for 2023. Hairy Beast is produced by company Hacks (Annie Lowry Thomas and Conner Milliken).
